Rent Telescopic Boom Lifts in Lübeck – Maximum Reach for Industry and Construction

A 35-metre steel structure at a Lübeck shipyard. A mobile phone mast in Genin. A chimney in the Roggenhorst industrial estate. Three tasks that an articulated boom lift can't solve — because its strength (up-and-over reach) isn't what's needed here. What counts is straight-line reach, high mast rigidity and a platform that doesn't noticeably sway even at 40 metres. This is exactly what telescopic boom lifts are built for.

Luibl Rental & Sales delivers telescopic boom lifts to the Lübeck area with our own low-loader fleet from a Europe-wide network of over 200 locations. Our rental fleet includes models from Genie, JLG, Manitou and Haulotte — working heights from 14 m to 57 m, outreach up to over 27 m, platform load capacities up to 454 kg.

Powerful Telescopic Boom Lifts for Demanding Terrain

Off-Road Capability Through All-Wheel Drive and Oscillating Axles

A telescopic boom lift only delivers value if it can reach the work site — even where the ground varies, from sandy port areas in Travemünde to unpaved sites in Genin, to works areas with kerbs and level changes. Three technical features determine terrain capability:

  • All-wheel drive (4×4): Standard on almost all larger telescopic boom lifts in the Luibl fleet. Provides traction even on wet or soft ground

  • Oscillating axle: Keeps all four wheels continuously on the ground over undulating terrain — crucial for stability when travelling over uneven surfaces

  • Differential lock: Prevents individual wheels from spinning when traction is lost on one side

For especially demanding ground conditions, our fleet includes the Genie S-65 Trax with tracked undercarriage: 21.80 m working height, 17.10 m outreach, significantly lower ground pressure than wheeled machines. Applications in Lübeck: foundation work on quay walls, park and cemetery grounds, slopes without a paved access route.

Large Working Heights and Outreach for Major Lübeck Projects

The model range covers the full spectrum — from the compact 14 m platform for spot maintenance to the 57 m machine for chimneys, aerials and the roofs of large industrial halls:

  • Entry class: Haulotte H14TX with 14.00 m working height, 10.30 m outreach, 230 kg load capacity

  • Mid-range 22 m: Genie S-65XC with 21.81 m working height, 16.51 m outreach, 454 kg load capacity — suitable for an operator plus materials

  • 28 m outreach specialist: Manitou 280 TJ with 27.73 m working height, 21.45 m outreach — the typical choice for hall roof maintenance

  • 40 m class: JLG 1200SJP with 38.73 m working height, 23.51 m outreach, 450 kg load capacity

  • High-performance class: Genie SX-135XC with 43.15 m working height, 27.43 m outreach, 454 kg — currently the greatest outreach in the Luibl fleet

  • Flagship model: Genie SX-180 with 56.90 m working height and 24.38 m outreach — for chimneys, high-bay warehouse exterior maintenance, crane and aerial installations

Important when choosing a model: maximum outreach only applies at reduced platform load. Manufacturer load charts — available as a datasheet for every model — show the precise load-dependent outreach. Anyone needing to position two people plus tools at 25 m horizontal reach needs a model with high platform load capacity at the outer envelope, not one with a high maximum reach at only 80 kg residual load.

Specific Applications in the Lübeck Area

Shipyards and Port: Steel Construction with Precise Positioning

In Lübeck's port area, in Travemünde and along the Trave, steel structures are built where accuracy to within a few millimetres matters — weld seams on girders, bolted connections on container gantries, maintenance on crane systems. This is where the fundamental advantage of a telescopic boom lift over an articulated boom lift shows: the continuous mast construction is significantly more rigid than a jointed arm. At 30 m height, the platform sways noticeably less — essential for any precision work.

On sandy ground near the coast, all-wheel drive with an oscillating axle is essential. Machines without this feature can sink in or lose stability when setting up.

Steel and Industrial Construction in Genin and Roggenhorst

Lübeck's commercial districts — Genin, Roggenhorst, Herrenwyk, Siems — host major projects involving the construction or maintenance of hall roofs and external facades. A typical hire combination: a 28 m or 40 m telescopic boom lift for external work, alongside a high-bay scissor lift for indoor use. Luibl's combined packages cover both from a single contract.

Mobile Phone Masts, Lighting, Aerials

Telescopic boom lifts are also in demand outside classic construction projects: mobile phone mast maintenance along the A1, A20 and the rail line to Hamburg. Lighting systems at port facilities and logistics centres. Aerial work on administrative and industrial buildings. For these applications, compact 22 m diesel all-wheel-drive platforms are often the economical choice — sufficient reach, quick set-up, lower transport costs than 40 m machines.

Safety and Technology

Stability and Design Standard

Telescopic boom lifts are designed to DIN EN 280 — the European standard for mobile elevating work platforms, governing calculation, stability, construction and inspection. This includes load-dependent platform load limiting: sensors continuously monitor the extension and automatically reduce the range of movement if the permitted envelope is exceeded. If the load limit is exceeded or the tipping edge is reached, the platform blocks further movement — a passive safeguard that must never be bypassed.

Operation and Qualification

Operation falls under DGUV Rule 100-500 Chapter 2.10 (operation of lifting platforms). Operators require documented instruction in accordance with DGUV Principle 308-008 as well as written authorisation from their employer. Internationally recognised is IPAF training with a PAL Card — Luibl offers this qualification at various locations.

Mandatory for every deployment: operator restraint systems (safety harness with lanyard attached to the designated anchor point in the platform). For outdoor use, the wind limit specified by the manufacturer also applies — typically 12.5 m/s (Beaufort force 6) for most models.

Daily Pre-Use Inspection

Before work begins, a visual and functional inspection in accordance with BetrSichV is mandatory. This covers hydraulic lines, emergency functions (emergency lowering, emergency stop), platform guardrails, safety sensors, tyres and outriggers. This inspection cannot be delegated — not even to the hire company. Luibl provides a prepared inspection checklist to simplify documentation.

Machine Breakdown Cover and Protection Package

Optional add-ons: machine breakdown insurance with reduced excess, and an extended protection package that includes on-site service during the hire period, among other benefits. On telematics-enabled models (increasingly standard in the Luibl fleet), many faults can be diagnosed remotely — measurably reducing response time and downtime.

Hire Process and Logistics to Lübeck

Heavy telescopic boom lifts weighing over 20 tonnes require specialist transport. Luibl operates its own low-loader fleet and plans delivery directly — no third-party haulier, no delays from subcontractor scheduling. For Lübeck logistics, this means:

  • Industrial areas (Genin, Herrenwyk, Siems, Roggenhorst): Standard delivery with a 4-axle low-loader; turning circle and set-up area are checked in advance

  • Port area and shipyards: Delivery coordinated with port operations, safety briefing at the site gate by the operator

  • City-centre construction sites: Delivery times planned around traffic levels at the Herrentunnel and the A1

For specialist equipment above 40 m working height, a lead time of a few days is typical — our scheduling team confirms exact availability during the initial consultation. For recurring requirements (shipyard maintenance, steel construction assembly over several months), long-term hire terms including statutory inspection and maintenance are available.

Availability and Load Chart for Your Lübeck Project

Task, location, timeframe, required working height and outreach — five details are enough for a concrete hire quote with a suitable model recommendation and load chart. Telephone consultation prevents the wrong hire choice: someone ordering a 28 m platform who actually needs 21.45 m outreach will get there faster and cheaper with the Manitou 280 TJ than with the next size up.
