Particularly in Lübeck's old town with its confined access, the rotating telehandler is often the only solution: once set up, it covers a 360° working area without having to be repositioned several times. On cobblestones, the outrigger feet can be supported with ground-protection mats – we advise on this before delivery.

Access technology and industrial trucks are tightly regulated. Before every hire, the question needs to be clarified: does the operator have the necessary qualification, has the risk assessment been drawn up, has the machine been inspected?

Equipment safety. Every rental machine undergoes a function check after each deployment. Annually, the UVV inspection follows in accordance with BetrSichV and DGUV Regulation 1 by independent experts. Mobile elevating work platforms are inspected in accordance with DIN EN 280 and DGUV Principle 308-008, industrial trucks in accordance with DGUV Principle 308-009.

Operator qualification. For self-propelled aerial work platforms on closed construction sites, no driving licence is required – but documented instruction is. Luibl offers certified training in accordance with IPAF (PAL Card). For truck-mounted platforms, depending on the total weight, category B (up to 3.5 t) or C1/C applies. Forklift drivers require an operator's licence in accordance with DGUV Principle 308-001.

Risk assessment. Legally lies with the operator's employer. Luibl supplies technical data sheets, load charts and conformity documents so that the assessment can be drawn up properly.

Lübeck-specific notes. Cohesive soils and marshland in districts such as Moisling, Buntekuh or the Trave meadows require careful load distribution for tracked undercarriages and outrigger footprints. Ground-protection mats and outrigger pads in the appropriate dimension can be hired from Luibl. For excavation work in new development areas, DIN 4124 applies (slopes, shoring, working-space width).

Three points where rental contracts typically get stuck – and how Luibl solves them:

Transparent price structure. Rental price, delivery flat rate and any final cleaning are listed in writing before the contract is concluded. No hidden items after return.

Machinery breakage insurance. Offered optionally and reduces the excess in the event of damage. Terms depend on the hire period and equipment class – clarify details before concluding the contract.

Handover protocol. On delivery, the condition of the equipment and its general state are recorded in writing (operating hours, battery status for electric machines, visible damage, accessories provided). The same protocol on return – no subsequent disputes.
